“Best of all, he gave our students some much-needed tips on how to approach the job interview process”

On December 6, 2012,  David Senkfor with TopGun Consulting, spoke to my robotics class here at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona. In his presentation, David showed my students how manufacturing has evolved from its birth in the late 1800s to the present day.

In addition, he gave the students his perspective about the role of manufacturing in United States and how this critical part of our economy is performing on the international scene.

Best of all, he gave our students some much-needed tips on how to approach the job interview process to put their best foot forward and land a job.

David is a lively, informative speaker, and I would heartily recommend David should your requirements call for a speaker that can show his knowledge of and enthusiasm for the manufacturing industry.

“David’s approachability, his willingness to speak directly to the students and to answer questions showed my students that David was not only an expert, but also simply more than a “gear head””

As a college instructor, I am often approached by others with suggestions for guest speakers to discuss various topics with my students.  Typically the suggested speakers do not fit well with the course topics or material, and the students fail to take much away from the event.

I am pleased to say that my encounter with David Senkfor, of TopGun Consulting, was quite the opposite experience that I was expecting.  David spoke to my GTC 185, Electro-Mechanical Devices, class at Mesa Community College, in Mesa, AZ, as an expert in gears and gear manufacturing.  My class had just finished a unit on gearing, and David’s presentation was intended to show the students how gearing and gear manufacturing is done in the “real world”.  The discussion and videos were informative and interesting.  David’s approachability, his willingness to speak directly to the students and to answer questions showed my students that David was not only an expert, but also simply more than a “gear head”.

While the specific topic for my class was gears, I am confident that David’s background in all levels of a manufacturing business affords him the ability to speak on many different topics related to the technical and business sides of manufacturing.  Based on my interaction with David, I am now more open to having guest speakers, especially those who have proven, applicable real-life experiences.  I look forward to working with David Senkfor in future courses.

"I have been acquainted with David Senkfor for over 30 years. He has an outstanding background and is experienced as an engineer in manufacturing/engineering environments. He was instrumental in growing a family owned gear company from a small business to a much larger and more profitable business, leading to the sale of the business to a major private equity fund. David has an exceptionally strong work ethic and the highest integrity. I would strongly recommend his services."

“We worked with David for more than six months to help us better understand our work flow processes and manufacturing techniques. Through his involvement with management and shop floor personnel, we were able to reduce our lead time by 30%, cut our costs by more than 10% and reduce scrap on an ongoing basis. His understanding of our process was truly remarkable and his ability to reengineer our process was outstanding. We would highly recommend him to anyone involved in sophisticated manufacturing.”
